New trolley service

Ladysmith trolley is a big hit with visitors and residents. The new trolley service runs from 8am-6pm Monday through Saturday.

The circuit is composed of seven routes and will take one hour and forty minutes to complete. The circuit is repeated five times each day. The routes have been carefully mapped out to offer transportation from the north end of Ladysmith to the south end, offering residents a regular route that will take them to appointments, shops and businesses virtually anywhere within Ladysmith's boundaries.
The full trolley schedule and route maps are available at businesses throughout Ladysmith, the Visitor InfoCentre, City Hall, the Frank Jameson Community Centre, and on this website. http://ladysmithtrolley.com/ People can also call 250.245.6400 for information. Trolley times are posted at each stop. The Trolley will stop at most stops five times a day. However, major stops like the 49th Parallel will have the Trolley stop by 20 times in the 10-hour period.

Ladysmith Tourism Update

As some of you may know, the Ladysmith Tourism Advisory Committee is focused on implementing the tourism marketing plan for the area. In addition to a marketing focus, we work with area businesses to assist with tourism development by providing tourism education and training tools. To this end, we successfully hosted a series of three SuperHost workshops to support businesses in customer service delivery.
We are now planning a series of workshops for the fall 2009 and would like your input. These workshops will be designed to provide education and tools to the business owner. Some workshop ideas we are working on are tourism packaging and product distribution, sales strategies and marketing communications.
We would like to hear from you what works best for you.

Do you prefer:

  • Half day or full day workshops?
  • Morning, afternoon, or evening workshops?
  • What day of the week suits you best? Or does a weekend work
  • better?
  • What additional topics would be of interest to you?

Please take a moment and respond to these questions by email.   We are in the planning stages, so the earlier we get your information, the better. If you know of others or have an e-list of members that would be interested in attending workshops and providing input, please do send this on to them.

Tourism Ladysmith is planning to showcase your best Ladysmith photos! We will be inviting you to send us your finest photos that captures the best of Ladysmith.  Watch for upcoming details!

Watch for the free Tourism Ladysmith postcards. Pich one up and invite your family and friends to visit!

11th annual Arts on the Avenue

There’s nothing like a summertime art show and sale, and Ladysmith’s favourite street arts festival is coming up Sunday, Aug. 31.
Thirty three artists will be in the big tents on First Avenue between Roberts and White Streets in downtown Ladysmith. The stage will be set for eight entertainers consisting of singers, musicians and dancers to keep your toes tapping for the whole art show
Something new this year is guest artists Grant Leier and Nixie Barton of Barton Leier Gallery in Yellow Point. The two internationally-known artists will man a display booth of their original work that will also be for sale. Affordable prints and posters of their art will be for sale. A painting of Leier’s will be raffled as a fund-raiser for Arts on the Avenue.
A quilt display by Sweet Pea Quilting of Ladysmith should be of interest to quilters and art lovers.
The organizers of the event have arranged for the participation of an Olympic and para-Olympic display booth with the possibility of an Olympic athlete attending.
The ever-popular art area for kids will be set up with a few different activities this year. The silent art auction will take your bids for your favourite piece of art.
Entry is free and the fun starts at 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Take your sun hat along and get ready for some family fun.
