Mayor Barry Janyk, Chair of the Island Coastal Economic Trust announced funding approval by the Board of Directors of $543,750 for the Ladysmith Maritime Society (LMS) Community Marina Visitors Facilities project on the Ladysmith waterfront.
“This project focuses on expanding marine tourism by providing high quality visitors in the rapidly growing recreational vessel market,” stated Janyk.
“The expanded Community Marina is a very positive step in the development of the Ladysmith waterfront and the Town’s economy,” said Ladysmith Mayor Rob Hutchins.
“Doug Bell, President of the Ladysmith Maritime Society said that the project focal point is a visitor centre with washrooms, showers, laundry, visitor meeting areas and facilities for hosting large scale rendezvous

A great success is what organizers are calling Ladysmith’s Festival of Lights.
The kick off to the Christmas Season included live entertainment, fireworks and a surprise when actress Pam Anderson appeared on Soulfire Dance Studio's parade float. Organizers are estimating between 18,000 to 20,000 people attended Light Up. The Festival of Lights continues into the first week of January.

All you have to do is cast your vote for your community as GamesTown. It’s easy and it’s fun. The Province has created a website called Gamestown 2010, where individuals can submit photos and a brief story of what they or their organization is doing or has done to make Ladysmith the best community in BC. Good News! The new Ladysmith to Cedar Visitor Guide
will be going to press shortly and this year its even better and bigger than last year with a major increase in circulation. This is theofficial visitor guide available through BC Toursim, Visitor Infor centre and throughout the community. DOn't forget the online version will be up soon. Watch for it in January.

Join in with local musicians as they rock and sing in Celebration of Light with all the proceeds to the Ladysmith Resource Centre's Christmas Cheer Fund.
Skellig, a local eclectic/Celtic rock band, will be hosting the ‘Celebration of Light’ event Dec. 18 with doors opening at 6:30pm. The event features over 10 local acts and bands including Ryan McMahon, Ladysmith’s Elf song’s Sandy Jasper and Steve Tozer, as well as Lena Birtwistle and Sid Johnson who are collectively known as the Adamantines.

At only $5 including tea/coffee/hot cider and dessert they will sell out fast. Cash or food donations are welcomed.

Yellowpoint Christmas Spectacular
The third annual Yellowpoint Christmas Spectacular is set to open its third season this December. Producer Katy Bowen-Roberts has transformed the Cedar Community Hall into a festive scene to showcase the Christmas Spectacular set to run Dec. 9-13, and Dec 16-20, at 7pm, with matinees at 3pm Fri-Sun. A team of 14 professional singers, dancers and musicians promise to dazzle and delight. Tickets are on sale at the Port Theatre 250 754-8550, or visit www.yellowpointchristmasspectacular.ca
Yellow Point Singers prepare for the Holiday Season
‘Tis the season to be jolly,’ and the Yellow Point Singers are getting ready to share their joy of singing.
This year their major Christmas concert “A Candle in the Window” will be held at St John’s Anglican Church on Buller Street in Ladysmith, Sunday Dec. 13 at 2:30pm. The program will include familiar seasonal music as well as lesser known tunes. Tickets for the concert are $10 each or $20 for a family. YPS is also collecting non-perishable food items for donation to Ladysmith Food Bank.
It's the Christmas show
Ladysmith Players are presenting “It’s Christmas!” with guest host Alan Clift. The show runs Fri., Dec.18 and Sat., Dec. 19. Doors open 7pm, show 7:30pm, matineee Sun., Dec. 20, doors open 1:30pm, show 2pm. Tickets $20 includes dessert and hot spiced cider.
