Can you identify the little boy in this picture?

If you guessed Jan Marion (yes, he was a stylish fashion trend setter even back in 1964) you were correct! This treasure was found deep in Mom's old photo album. After secretly "borrowing it", a quick scan and edit to digitally enhance the image, we now have this wonderfully remastered image!

No doubt you have similarly nostalgic images tucked away for safekeeping. Why not bring those fond memories out of storage, into the 21st century?
In doing so, not only will you be reviving fond memories, you'll be creating nostalgic wall art pieces that truly preserve moments in time.

The "moment" captured in this snapshot will make a great surprise gift for my sister (middle) and my cousin (left) ...shh, don't spoil my surprise and tell them!

Tips & Trends : Adding Value to Your Priceless Family Heirlooms

Newsletter photo

At H. Marion Framing we are seeing a shift in trends regarding what clients are framing. Whether their items are extremely valuable or simply priceless, more people are choosing to preserve or restore family heirlooms such as antique photographs, articles of clothing like christening gowns and hand-made textiles, and prestigious medals awarded to family members for military service.

The right framing treatment not only enhances the presentation of your cherished collection, it also extends the life-span of items that otherwise fall victim to wear and tear from excessive handling and the improper storage. Sub-standard framing can also cause accelerated deterioration of your irreplacable memorabilia.

Bring in your framed items for a free inspection, or let our designers help you to select an attractive display for those which have been tucked away in the closet or sitting in your attic, gathering dust, before time ravages them any further.
No matter what your project entails, the Art Consultants at H. Marion Framing
will ensure that conservation materials and preservation framing methods are implemented to preserve your commemorative projects for future generations.

Pioneer Press : Home & Design Feature

The choice of frames on artwork makes a strong impact in the design of your home.

Jan Marion of H. Marion Framing and his team of designers have been in the framing business for over thirty years and have acquired a lot of useful knowledge on the subject.

"There are certain techniques and materials that need to be used so that your art will last," he says. "Both from a preservation standpoint but also from a quality of raw materials, we need to make sure that your piece will look as good in 5, 10, or 50 years as it does the day you pick it up in the frame shop."

When framing a collection of prints, drawings, or photographs, it's wise to frame all of the pieces in similar profiles, giving the collection more impact, drawing attention to the work itself...

Featured Artist : Voytek

This month, we focus on the work of the gifted, international artist, Voytek.

Please join us for a reception
at our Wilmette showroom from
3pm - 9pm on Friday, March 20th
celebrating Voytek's portraiture
and landscape artistry.

Light refreshments will be served
~ ~~ ~~~ ~~ ~

Voytek's enthusiasm for and juxtaposition of color give his oil works a distinct style. His warm, impressionistic landscapes display nostalgic memories of his native Poland. Refined Old World sentiment is infused with modern flavor, which distinguishes Voytek from other landscape artists. But his gift for artistry extends far beyond the landscape's horizon; Voytek's portrait studies are glimpses into the soul.

“People I Know” is a series comprised of two parts, consisting of: 10 vertical portraits/figure paintings, based on 17th-century drawings and modeled after the works of Dutch artist Franz Hals. The other 10 images are square, with a kind of surreal presentation. This series will be displayed as a body of works-in-progress & as the title suggests, all models are affiliates of Voytek's.
