...our Mom left Cuba to come to America with our late father, Roger, to start a new life. Both my brother Carlos and I did not know much except it was exciting!
This giant step took an incredible amount of courage and fortitude, something my brother Carlos and I were not aware of. To us, it was a an exciting adventure, straight out of the movies!
On Sunday, May 9, we celebrate the life our Mom has given us and our young families, as well as remembering what and who she left behind in Cuba. She is the bravest woman we know and we love her deeply for it. Thanks Mom (and Dad).

Mother's Day Special: Mom gets a FREE dessert - nice!
Oxtail Stew (rated best in Chicago): The oxtail is marinated for 3 days in a traditional red wine and tomato sauce. It is then slowly simmered with sweet peppers, onions plus other Island spices until the meat just falls off the bone. Served Caribbean style with rice and black beans (congri), along with boiled cassava smothered in garlic sauce for added flavor.
