Ladysmith HOME, GARDEN & BUSINESS SHOW, APRIL 17TH & 18TH 2010, AGGIE HALL
Ladysmith Chamber of Commerce, General Meeting, Tuesday, April 20, 2010
General meetings are now held on the 3rd Tuesday of each Month and will alternate Lunch Meetings and Dinner Meetings.

Chemainus Valley Cultural Arts Society (CVCAS) marks Arts & Culture Week in BC with a repeat of last year's popular festival of ethnic music, dance and food on the April 17th weekend. There will be artists, artisans, and poets, too. Admission by donation with food tickets at $1 and 1-5 tickets. Sample foods from India, Japan, Thailand, England, Canada, the Netherlands, Italy and China.
Saturday April 17 will take place from 11am-4pm in the Legion Hall, 9775 Chemainus Rd, at the Bandshell in Waterwheel Park, and streetside in the downtown area. In the event of poor weather, the art gallery moves to the lower hall of Chemainus United Church and the musicians from the bandshell will perform in St. Michael's Church hall (both sites across the street from the Park and wheelchair accessible.) At 4:30 there will be a Poetry Slam - 2-3 minute poetry readings by local "closet poets" - at the Book Nook Coffee House, 2859 Oak St. in Old Town Chemainus (near the ferry dock.)
Sunday April 18 CVCAS presents a multi-faith gospel concert at the Waterwheel Park Bandshell. (At St. Michael's hall, if poor weather) starting at 2pm.

Spring Arts Show & Sale
TheCowichan Valley Arts Council presents the 40th annual Spring Arts Show & Sale in Comeakin House at the Quw’utsun’ Cultural and Conference Centre, Duncan, from April 21 - 25. The show will feature over 100 artists showing more than 200 pieces of original artwork. The viewing public will see media in 2D and 3D, including drawings, paintings, pottery, fibre arts, print making, leather and sculpture.

Ladysmith Waterfront Gallery presents Go Figure. Over 30 pieces on display inspired by a figure. All the artists are from south Vancouver Island. Running daily from noon to 4pm, 610 Oyster Bay Rd. 250 245-1252.

If you are interested in the history of Ladysmith and area, or even if you just want to hear a top-notch speaker on the topic “ Why Museums Matter! Even in the age of the internet” then you should attend the Ladysmith and District’s Annual General Meeting to be held in the meeting room on the lower level of the Frank Jameson Community Centre, April 20 at 7pm
The special guest speaker for the evening is Tim Willis, Director, Exhibitions and Visitor Experience, Royal BC Museum. He will take the audience on a personal journey to museums around the world. His presentation will be followed with a brief question and answer period and a coffee break prior to the business portion of the AGM.
TheLDHS hopes to establish a museum for Ladysmith in the future.

The Ladysmith Downtown Business Association's Outrageous May Day is promising to offer a night of hilarity and all for a good cause. On Sat. May 1
you will be treated to lip sync performances, entertainment, silent auction and good times to remember.
