Free Octopus Appy in April!
Enjoy a free oil and red wine vinegar-marinated octopus appy this month if you can tell us how many square kilometers make up the island of Elafonissos, and how many meters it is from mainland Greece.
Must be accompanied by an entree and only in-house.
Easter in Greece is a wonderful time of the year. The festivals, celebrations and traditions show us the spirit and passion that is so alive in Greeks and you see the spirit of community at its best. Greece is a christian orthodox country and a large percentage of the population follow closely the Christian traditions, and many will observe the traditions of Lent and give up certain foods for this time.
The foods that are generally restricted for Lent are meat or fish that has blood, as well as anything that comes from an animal with blood such as cheese, yogurt, milk and eggs. The degree of foods that people abstain from these days however, may be changing. I do know of many people that will just give up meat, rather than abstaining from all the restricted foods.

Due to George's success in Canada with his restaurant, the island of Elafonissos have decided to give George the "keys to the island" and rename it Georgeland for one day only in April.
What a wonderful gesture. As you can imagine, he is absolutely thrilled with this news. Well done, George!
